Christian’s Top 5 Board Books + Family Friday Linkup

Family, Lifestyle, Reviews

top-5-board-books

Christian (2 years and 9 months old) absolutely loves reading books. In fact, it’s probably his favorite thing to do in the entire world: he reads (looking at the pictures and baby talking 🙂 books when he wakes up (while we are still sleeping), and then he asks us to read him a book before his nap, before his bedtime and all the time in between 🙂

And today I want to share his Top 5 board books that he never gets tired of:

  1. Bubbles Bubbles

bubbles-sesame-street

It’s his first favorite book since he was 6 months old (and now it’s David’s favorite). And it doesn’t seem like there is something special about this book, but kids absolutely love it. One of Christian’s first words was “Bubba bubba”, he was always saying it when he wanted me to read him this book (which was every evening). I even tried to read him more interesting books (that I thought would be more interesting for him), but he paid zero attention and just wanted his “Bubba bubba”.

Now, he is more into other books, but if I read it to David he still enjoys it.

2. Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?

mr-brown-can-moo

Another favorite of his since very young age, and he still likes it a lot… Great book to teach kids different (or how the book says “wonderful”) noises!

3. Who am I? Baby Animals

who-am-i-baby-animals

Great book for very both small kids and for older kids. When Christian was around 1 year old, I just showed him pictures of baby animals in the book and talked about them, right now I follow the book directions and it’s very entertaining to see how Christian imitates the animals, like when he tries to walk like a bear or catch a fly with his tongue like a chameleon. Also, we discuss colors of the animals, and we count them. This book seems very simple but it can be very entertaining and useful at the same time.

4. First Animal Facts. Safari.

animal-facts-safari

This book teaches simple facts about the animals: what they like to do, what they eat, where they live. It’s very colorful and has great illustrations which attract Christian’s eyes. He always reaches for this book.

5. Brown bear, Brown bear what do you see

brown-bear-what-do-you-see

This book doesn’t have much story line to it, but I think Christian likes it because it’s really easy to understand and memorize, plus he likes the illustrations. The book is simple, clean and catches kids attention very fast. While reading you can also ask: “What does brown bear see? And what does red bird see?” etc. That way they’re gonna use their memory…

There so many board books that Christian likes, it was hard to choose just 5, but I didn’t want to make this post extra long. Some of his other favorite books are: Good night moon, Dear Zoo, Green eggs & ham (this one he started to enjoy only recently), and series of books from Leap Frog Collection, he loves to play with Scout (Book Pal)

Which board books are your kids favorite?

My thoughts:

I’m usually not a fan of gel texture in skin care products. I never feel like they do anything to my skin. But the texture of this revitalizing eye gel is richer, heavier (in a good way) and creamier than other eye gels that I’ve used in the past. It moisturizes the entire area around the eyes, and it’s safe to use right before applying a concealer. In spite of how moisturizing this eye gel is, it has a light silky texture and doesn’t cause a concealer to move or slide.  The packaging is very simple but so convenient and easy to use. It’s not bulky or heavy which makes it travel-friendly as well. I still have dark circles, but with the sleep that I get or don’t get I should say, it would be a true miracle if anything could remove them. I don’t have many fine lines or wrinkles (just yet… Thank God!), so it’s hard for me to say if this eye gel really treats sagging eyelids or wrinkles, but I do really like the way it feels on my skin, and I never forget to use it in the morning and at night.

My CustomInk Experience (Behind The Scenes)

Dallas, Texas, Everything else, Lifestyle, Reviews

customink

Several weeks ago I was invited to take a tour at CustomInk’s Production Facility in Flower Mound, TX, and I was seriously blown away by how they make and customize t-shirts. Behind every t-shirt and every CustomInk’s product, there is so much work involved, so many people who work behind the scenes creating a perfect t-shirt. I never really give a thought to how t-shirts are actually created, especially when it’s so easy to design and order them online, using CustomInk Design Lab with 75 000 + pieces of art to choose from (or you can create your own design). They use several methods to make their t-shirts: embroidery, digital printing, and screen printing. You have to watch the whole process for yourself, and you will also see how I screen printed my own t-shirt (it was a lot of fun and took a lot of muscle work lol) ↓:

You can order CustomInk products for ANY event in your life..big or small: wedding, reunion, graduation, vacation, for your business, sports team etc. Here are several samples:  Continue reading “My CustomInk Experience (Behind The Scenes)”

Dove Root Lift Spray | Review

Beauty, Reviews

dove-root-lift-spray

I remember standing in the “Hair Care” aisle one day looking for something innovative and awesome for my hair, but I wasn’t sure what exactly I was looking for, I just knew that my hair needed a little extra something to look better than it really was. Then I saw this Dove Root Lift Spray, and I thought to myself that it could be a game changer for my hair if it really worked, and of course, I had to try it. So here’s a little bit about the product:

Brand Claims:

Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray lifts hair from the roots for added body and fullness.

Formulated with Oxyfusion Technology for Moisture

The Oxygen Moisture range is made with Oxyfusion Technology, a new generation of moisture and provides 95 percent more volume*.

Lifts from the Roots for Natural-Looking Bounce

This light mist provides targeted lift from the roots, where hair tends to be weighed down, for body and natural-looking bounce.

My Opinion:

I use it ALL THE TIME since the day I got it, I haven’t even shopped for an alternative like I usually like to do because I’m so in love with this product. I don’t know how this spray does its magic, I just know that it works. I use it mostly after I straighten my hair with a flat iron, that’s when my hair needs the most volume, and without it, my hair looks just really flat. I usually spray it on my dry hair, but it works on wet hair as well. And it smells amazing!

How to Use: Spray close to hair targeting roots for better lift. Use a brush for beautiful finish throughout the day.

Size: 3.3 oz

Price: $5.98

Valentia Eye Cream | Review

Beauty, Reviews

I feel like right now I’m at the age when I really need to start taking care of my skin to prevent wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles (well, that I already have thanks to sleep deprivation). And I’m 28, in case you’re curious 🙂 A couple of years ago I haven’t even used an eye cream on a regular basis, I should’ve, but I haven’t. And only recently I started to feel that my under eye area feels dry and needs some moisture. I started to look for an eye cream, I purchased a couple from a drugstore, and then I tried a high end one. And I realized that I’m pretty picky when it comes to eye creams 🙂 One was too thin for me and oily, another one was too thick. Recently I’ve had an opportunity to try True Glow Eye Cream by Valentia. Here is what the brand claims:

valentia-eye-cream-livingwithjane

Valentia True Glow Eye Cream – An illuminating antioxidant rich eye cream that helps lock in moisture,
repair and tighten skin for a youthful looking glow around the eye area.

Macadamia Style Extend Dry Shampoo | Review

Beauty, Reviews

MACADAMIA DRY SHAMPOO-livingwithjane

I finally found a dry shampoo that I actually really like and that actually does the job it’s supposed to do!! Macadamia Style Extend Dry Shampoo!!! New Fave! <3

Brand claims:

Extend the life of your hairstyle with a translucent dry shampoo designed to absorb oil and product build-up. Hair is left feeling clean, revived and full of body.

BENEFITS
• Absorbs excess oil, product build-up and odor
• Instantly refreshes hair, leaving it looking and feeling clean and fresh
• Blends with all hair colors, leaving no powdery residue
• Finish – Natural

KEY INGREDIENTS
• Macadamia Oil – Omega 7, 5 and 3 fatty acids provide weightless moisture
• Argan Oil – Omega 9 fatty acid repairs and strengthens
• Rice & Potato Starches – Absorbs excess oils & purifies hair

My Opinion:

Macadamia Dry Shampoo 100 % does everything described above. This is the first dry shampoo I’ve ever tried that I don’t have any complaints about (oh, that’s a lie)…one complaint – Price. It’s kind of expensive for a dry shampoo, but I’m closing my eyes on the price, because this dry shampoo is really good and totally worth every penny!! I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos, but I never had a favorite one or even one that I wanted to try twice. I know a lot of girls like Batiste dry shampoo, but I’m not a fan of it, I didn’t like the smell of it and it always left residue on my hair, my hair never felt clean after using it, I tried Pssst, but I always had a white cast on my hair after using it, I also tried Not Your Mother Dry Shampoo – didn’t like it (you can read my review here). But let’s focus on Macadamia Dry Shampoo now. When I bought it I had high expectations, because it’s a really good brand, and because it costs $25. “You better work”, I thought when I hit “Checkout now” button 🙂 And it did, it works really great on my black hair. No white cast, no unclean feeling in my hair, smells good, absorbs the oil, and freshens up the hair in general. So I would definitely recommend you guys try it.

How to use: Shake can well. Spray 10 -12 inches from hair, targeting the roots. Wait a minute, then brush or work lightly into hair. Style as desired.

You really want to stick with the directions on how to use it. Don’t spray it too close to your hair. I know we think that the closer we spray, the more product we get in a specific area where we want the oil to be absorbed etc., but it can leave white cast if you do that, because of too much concentration on one area, instead keep the bottle at least 8 to 10 inches away, don’t worry you will still get the results needed.

Price: $25

Size: 5 oz

Where to buy: Ulta, Macadamiahair.com

How often do you use dry shampoo? And which one is your favorite?
