Little Swimmers

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

I’ve probably said it hundred times and I will say it again 🙂 One of the best decisions we’ve made was to send Christian to swim school (Emler Swim School) early. He was 15 months old, it was January, we didn’t have the pool at that time, but we felt that it was so important to learn how to swim, because it’s the skill that he will always have no matter the profession, no matter where he lives and what he does. I remember him crying for several weeks every swim lesson, and then one day he stopped and he started to really enjoy the process. I look at him now and I’m so happy to see him happy and excited to jump in the water. There is no fear or uncertainty in his eyes, he really loves it and truly enjoys his pool time.

Christian’s Top 5 Board Books + Family Friday Linkup

Family, Lifestyle, Reviews

Christian (2 years and 9 months old) absolutely loves reading books. In fact, it’s probably his favorite thing to do in the entire world: he reads (looking at the pictures and baby talking 🙂 books when he wakes up (while we are still sleeping), and then he asks us to read him a book before his nap, before his bedtime and all the time in between 🙂

And today I want to share his Top 5 board books that he never gets tired of:

  1. Bubbles Bubbles

It’s his first favorite book since he was 6 months old (and now it’s David’s favorite). And it doesn’t seem like there is something special about this book, but kids absolutely love it. One of Christian’s first words was “Bubba bubba”, he was always saying it when he wanted me to read him this book (which was every evening). I even tried to read him more interesting books (that I thought would be more interesting for him), but he paid zero attention and just wanted his “Bubba bubba”.

Now, he is more into other books, but if I read it to David he still enjoys it.

2. Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?

Another favorite of his since very young age, and he still likes it a lot… Great book to teach kids different (or how the book says “wonderful”) noises!

3. Who am I? Baby Animals

Great book for very both small kids and for older kids. When Christian was around 1 year old, I just showed him pictures of baby animals in the book and talked about them, right now I follow the book directions and it’s very entertaining to see how Christian imitates the animals, like when he tries to walk like a bear or catch a fly with his tongue like a chameleon. Also, we discuss colors of the animals, and we count them. This book seems very simple but it can be very entertaining and useful at the same time.

4. First Animal Facts. Safari.

This book teaches simple facts about the animals: what they like to do, what they eat, where they live. It’s very colorful and has great illustrations which attract Christian’s eyes. He always reaches for this book.

5. Brown bear, Brown bear what do you see

This book doesn’t have much story line to it, but I think Christian likes it because it’s really easy to understand and memorize, plus he likes the illustrations. The book is simple, clean and catches kids attention very fast. While reading you can also ask: “What does brown bear see? And what does red bird see?” etc. That way they’re gonna use their memory…

There so many board books that Christian likes, it was hard to choose just 5, but I didn’t want to make this post extra long. Some of his other favorite books are: Good night moon, Dear Zoo, Green eggs & ham (this one he started to enjoy only recently), and series of books from Leap Frog Collection, he loves to play with Scout (Book Pal)

Which board books are your kids favorite?

June Currently + Family Friday Linkup

Family, Lifestyle, Thoughts

June flew by so fast… It was May yesterday, and it’s already July… June was a hard month, a lot was going on and we were just so busy…it seems like the whole month was just on fast forward except for a couple of moments that were in slow motion…  That’s how I feel about June…

It seems like the whole month was just on fast forward except for a couple of moments that were in slow motion…  That’s how I feel about June and that’s probably the best I can describe it…

Reminded of what a great actor is Tom Hanks LOL 🙂 and L-I-F-E.. How important it is to live Your Life, to do what you want to do, to spend time with people you want to spend time with, to create moments with your loved ones, and not sweat a small stuff or even a big stuff..because at the end a lot of things that we so worry about won’t matter…the only things that will matter are the memories that we have and the moments we create, and I want them to be good…

On June 21, my girlfriend’s mom who had cancer (read her story here) passed away… I was at the hospital that night, and it was so heartbreaking. I know that no one is going to live on this Earth forever, and the death is unavoidable, but it’s still very hard to deal with it.But, like my husband said: “She (Fanny) is not in the past she is in our future, and we’ll definitely meet in heaven”.

If any of you want to support her family and help with the funeral expenses, please donate here.

Watched The League of Their Own, Captain Phillips… Both are based on a true story…

… and we started to watch Son Of God (but we haven’t finished it yet). But so far I feel like they gave a general idea of the bible but there are a lot of {important} details that weren’t shown in the movie…

And yes, I can’t believe I haven’t watched Me before You just yet… 🙁 Have you watched it? I’m afraid to be disappointed, I loved the book so much…

Enjoying going to be at night… There are days when I enjoy waking up and looking forward to a new day, but this month I was just really enjoying going to bed, and get some kind of a quiet time without rushing anywhere, and even then I didn’t really enjoy my nights, because I had to wake up to put Christian on a potty or David was waking up because I broke him from taking a pacifier and he didn’t like that…

And we are enjoying swimming in the pool almost every day 🙂 <3

Listening  to a lot of Christian music (mainly Pandora’s Hillsong United radio station).

Nighttime Potty Training + Family Friday Linkup

Family, Lifestyle

On Thursday, June 9th I finally decided to start a nighttime potty training process. My son is 2 years and 8 months old, and he was potty trained for over a year now…but not fully. He was wearing pullups when we go out (just in case an accident happens) and at nights. For several months now something inside me has been telling me that he is ready to be completely out of diapers and that I need to start night time potty training, but I’ve been just dragging it…because I didn’t want to wake up at nights (even though I was still getting up to nurse David), and I was scared…scared of what could happen..stuff like: wet sheets, often wakings, crying…I didn’t know what to expect..considering that every morning he was waking up with a diaper full of pee. But then I decided that enough was enough and we just needed to be done with it. I read a couple of articles on this subject, set a date, planned everything in my head, got some necessities, and it was a success!! In fact, I can’t believe how easy it’s been!!

I thought of everything that could possibly happen during this potty training process, and I also knew that if an accident happened at night I wouldn’t have the energy to change the sheets…but what if he had several accidents in one night? I needed to be prepared for the worst. I bought disposable bed mats, and I bought 1 washable waterproof sheet protector.

I put 1 disposable mat on the sheets, and I put a washable one (since it’s nicer material) on top. That way if Christian peed in the middle of the night, I could just take a washable mat off. His PJs and underwear are always folded in his dresser, so I knew I had an easy access if I needed to change him at night. I also put a potty chair by his bed.

Chores Toddler Can Do

Family, Lifestyle

Christian (2 years and 8 months old) likes to help a lot, and I know his willingness to help won’t be there forever (but inside of me I still hope that it will be LOL), so I take advantage of it, and you should too. Here’s the list of what he does regularly to help around the house (and you can watch the video too, it’s cute :-)):

  1. Feeds our puppy every morning
  2. Unloads dishwasher. I take the basket with utensils out of the dishwasher (I make sure to take all the knives out first) and he sorts everything out. Sometimes we do the whole unloading process together, he hands me the plates and everything else out of the dishwasher and I put them away since he can’t reach that high yet.
  3. Helps to cook: puts seasoning on the salad (you should control the process though so that he doesn’t put too much of it LOL), makes easy snacks, cooks oatmeal.
  4. Puts his toys away. That’s a must. We have a rule: if he’s done playing with one toy (or with one box of small toys), he puts it away before taking another toy or another box (the same with books). Sometimes things can get crazy, chaotic and messy like in the video below ↓ (usually when he’s playing with his dad LOL ), but no matter what he cleans his own room.
  5. Puts all his dirty clothes in the hamper. It’s like a basketball game for him, he likes to throw them in the basket, and if he doesn’t make it, he picks it up and tries again until he succeeds LOL. So my point is he loves this whole process.
  6. Does small trash. He just basically takes the trash out of small trash cans that are in the bedrooms and puts them either in the big trash can or by the door, and then Daniel does the rest.
  7. Feeds his little brother. He doesn’t always do that (he would be glad though), because even when I feed David it gets pretty messy, just imagine a 2-year-old feeding a 10 months old baby…yeah, it’s hard to call it help LOL.. I usually allow him to that when I absolutely need it or when it’s not too messy and I know they both are having fun.

Please, share the things that your kids do to help you?

Family Morning Routine

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

I enjoyed filming and editing our daily routine. I don’t know if it’s good or bad but I do like the routine, I can plan things better and I can get a lot done if I know how my day goes. We have two morning routines: work day routine and weekend routine. In this video you can see our work day routine, where I get up with kids, make breakfast (3 separate breakfasts LOL :-), and take care of kids, while my husband gets ready for work. On weekends, I get to relax a little bit more since my husband is the one who takes care of the kids. Let me know if you want me to make a weekend morning routine video 🙂 I’ll be happy to!

What time do you wake up in the morning? And what is your morning routine?

April + May Favorite Moments

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

I’m always excited about this kind of posts because I can look back on the entire month and really appreciate everything we have and the time spent with family and friends.

I started this series of posts in March, but I skipped April because I was just so busy (still unpacking ugh)… that’s why today I’m combining April and May together in one post since we’ve had a lot of good moments in April and I want to share them with you.

Reminded of that we are responsible not only for our kids but we are responsible TO them for our choices, actions, and behavior. We should always be an example of what we want to teach them.

Reading a lot of health related articles. David was really sick past month for 2 weeks straight, he had a hand, foot & mouth disease, viral diarrhea (therefore really bad rash), allergies and ear infection. It was really tough on him. We were prescribed antibiotics and a lot of other medicines that I didn’t want to give him 🙁 so I started to read about natural approach to treating these kinds of medical conditions and I’m happy to report that it’s been successful 🙂

We’ve watched several movies this past couple of months, but first two movies that come to mind are Legend (based on true story) and The Nice Guys. Both are good!

Enjoying being a mommy. I enjoy daily cute conversations with Christian, I enjoy seeing how both of my kids develop and grow, I enjoy cooking for them (before it was a struggle because Christian was so picky and David wasn’t eating solids yet).

Wanting for David to sleep through the night… oh I want it so much LOL. I kinda used to get up at nights, and I pretty much forgot what it feels like to have uninterrupted nighttime sleep, but people say it’s good, so I want to experience it again LOL.

Listening to Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars, it’s Christian’s new favorite song 🙂

Highlights of this couple of months ↓ . Watch my April + May Favorite Moments 🙂 ↓

P.S. Finally caught up with my vlogs, so now they will be up in real time and not 2 months behind 🙂

Has anything exciting happened in your life recently? Please, share 🙂

ATV Tour & Bull Riding | Vlog

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

Everything from planting irises and volunteering at the nursing house to ATVs, Bull riding (which was the first for me) and armadillo race is in this vlog…

So many new experiences in one day! We had an amazing day with amazing people at the Beaumont Ranch, where we enjoyed delicious food, beautiful nature and fun activities.

I absolutely loved the ATV tour and the only reason I chose it over zip lining is because I thought I would just sit in the front seat while Daniel is driving LOL… And when the first group left to do zip lining and I saw that I’m the only girl left to do an ATV tour I got a little suspicious, but it was too late to change my mind. It turned out that ATV tour on 4 wheelers was more difficult and extreme than zip lining…well, I had no idea, but now I’m really happy that I got to do it because I had so much fun riding the 4 wheeler up and down the hills and seeing all the beautiful nature around us!

I knew what bull riding was, though, and I absolutely didn’t want to do that, Daniel just literally dragged me and sat me on that bull (thanks, love :/ LOL). Can’t say that I enjoyed it but I’m glad that I tried it…

Have you ever done any of this stuff? Which one did you enjoy the most?
