Usually, I’m not the person who makes New Year resolutions every new year 🙂 When I want to change something in my life I try to change it right away…not starting from Monday or next month, or after New Year… But this year the changes and improvements that I want to make in my life happened at the end of the year, so I thought why not to write a “My New Year Resolution Goals”. I really had to think and prioritize the goals I want to achieve in 2016. It’s just because there are so many things that I want to do and I want to become, and often I think I have so little time and that I need to rush and every second of my free time I must do something. But I also know that when you do 100 things at once, you will never be good at any of them. I mean I know it in my head, but now I should follow my own advice to prioritize and focus. Sometimes it seems like I have a chaos in my head, I have too many ideas and desires, like: I want to be a better wife, a better mother, I want to travel, and I want to blog more, I want to study photography, and I want to study makeup, I want to read more, and I want to learn a foreign language, to scrapbook, to paint etc. …and it’s just a small percentage of what’s going on in my head. So I decided to make the list of my resolutions for 2016 to be able to focus on just a couple of things and not to be distracted by so many others. So here it is:
1. The first one is a cliche, I think it’s everyone’s number 1 resolution every year, and yes, you guessed it..it’s “Losing Weight”, but wait before you start thinking and judging me, like: “Oh, she’s so skinny, why she’d want to lose weight?! or “She’s crazy” and blah, blah, blah… For me, it’s more about eating healthy and exercising, than losing weight. I’m petite, but it doesn’t mean I have a toned perfect body, and it also doesn’t mean that I have good eating habits and that I’m a very healthy person.
A couple of years ago I made an attempt of making healthy eating my lifestyle. I followed 12 weeks meal plan diet (the results and my thoughts are here), and I enjoyed it a lot, but when I finished my last week of the plan, I slowly started to get back to my old habits of eating not so healthy and really not paying much attention to what and how much I eat. I think the reason it didn’t last past 12 weeks is (even though I knew it was healthy and good for me) that I didn’t want to make time to look for clean recipes, I didn’t study about nutrition to know what is good for me and what is now, and why. This time, I decided to learn about foods, their nutrients and etc. and every week I make a meal plan of all the meals we’re going to eat in a week, including snacks. And I will start sharing my meal plans with you guys, and maybe I will be able to encourage you to eat healthy as well, it’s much easier to start when you have some guidance like it was for me 2 years ago. But my meal plans will be different from other meal plans that you find online (just a heads up). For now, they’re half clean lol… I’m just a regular person, not a clean eating guru or fitness junkie..sometimes I want to eat a piece of cake or black forest sundae, or ice cream from marble slab, and I don’t want to feel guilty about it… maybe one day I’ll enjoy eating homemade ice cream from a frozen banana, but for now, I gotta start somewhere 🙂 Oh, and I’m going to have at least one cheat day a week, where I’ll allow myself a slice or two of pizza, or chocolate dessert etc. because I think I’ll have more success if I actually enjoy my meal plans vs forcing myself eating only clean, suppressing my cravings and at the end give up. You’re gonna see “egg in a basket” toasts, french toasts etc. for breakfast, but you’re also going to see healthy clean meals.
I’m just going to share my journey of improving and changing my eating habits, but I can’t go from eating junk food to eating healthy overnight nor do I want to make such extreme changes. I’m just really loving the process right now (I’ve been doing it for 2 weeks so far :-))
I also plan on exercising. I never really exercised. I tried, but I didn’t last. I read somewhere that 80% of the body we have is made in the kitchen, which made it easier for me to ignore exercising in general 🙂 but while I still believe that healthy eating is 80% of a good or bad body, I also believe that exercising should be a big part of our lives, it makes us physically stronger and it also makes us healthier. The second reason why I want to make healthy eating and exercising my lifestyle is that I want to be a good example for my kids. There is no point in controlling their diet and not following it myself (as there is no point on telling them what is good and doing the opposite – “note to myself”)… Actions speak louder than words…ALWAYS…
This post is much longer that I thought it would be, so my other resolutions will be in a second post that will be up next week… Be sure to check back then! And please, share your New Year Resolutions with me!! 🙂 Oh, and Happy New Year! I hope 2016 brings you happiness and makes your dreams come true!!
