If you know me you know that I LOVE picnics! What can be better than sitting outside, eating good food, having a conversation with great friends while your kids are running around? Today my amazing friend and awesome blogger Roselle from in_DFW blog (which is the best guide to family fun) and I decided to team up and create a list of TEN parks in DFW that are perfect for a picnic. So here they are:

  1. Haggard Park

Located in the heart of Plano and is also a home of Interurban Railway museum. We especially like going there for movie nights in the park. They are free and family-friendly, you can’t beat it.

2. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

It’s probably number 1 park for playdates for those who live in Plano area. It has everything: a playground for kids, several pavilions, hike and bike trails, plus it’s pet-friendly.

3. Hope park

The best family park hands down. Huge playground for kids different age, spray park, stocked pond, a walking trail, BBQ grill, picnic tables – pretty much everything you need for a fun family time outdoors. If you’ve never been there, you have to check it out!

4. Bob Woodruff Park

This park is located near the lake, great place for those who love fishing. It also features sand volleyball court, hike and bike trails, therapeutic swing and a playground.

5. Mary Head Carter’s Park

It was updated in 2014. Play features include climbing areas of simulated rock, cables, ladders, interactive panels, slides, decks, swings, shade and a three-level tower.

House Makeover | Before & After

Dallas, Texas, DIY/How to, Everything else, Family, Lifestyle

house-makeover-livingwithjane

I’m finally posting before and after photos of our house makeover!!

We’ve recently moved to our new house and still in the process of unpacking the boxes (can’t wait to be done with that). We bought the house in February and we fell in love with it at first glance. We love everything about it: the layout, the size of the rooms, the fact that it’s a one-story house, and it has everything we want our perfect house to have including the backyard and of course, the pool (it’s Texas for God’s sake :-)).

It’s our first family house and first time to do any kind of remodeling. We were very excited to begin the process and to choose the paint colors, tile, appliances etc. It was very fun (more fun at the beginning than at the end lol), but it was also very overwhelming at the same time…we even had to choose the color of the grout (yes, I didn’t even think there were so many options of grout colors :-)).

We made all of our choices and then I began to worry if it would look good when it was all set and done. I didn’t want to pay more just to change and redo something that I chose myself at the first place.

Even though we wanted our house to look beautiful we were also trying to make practical choices like we made an office room instead of having a formal dining room because we need an office space since I work from home, and we can always have big dinners in the kitchen area.

Here are several Before and After photos. And below you will also find a Before/After Video + the fun process of remodeling.

This is the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets are real wood, so we decided to just paint them white instead of completely changing them since the quality is really good. We changed the floors, countertops, backsplash, sink and appliances.

Christian’s First Birthday Party (Photos and Video)

Everything else, Happy Birthday!!!, Maternity/Baby, Photography

Finally collected all the photos from people who attended Christian’s birthday party, and took photos.. We didn’t hire photographer and videographer, because they’re ridiculously expensive here, as I was saying before. I’ll do a separate post about all the supplies and where I got them from… But for now I just want to share couple of photos and video from that day… Continue reading “Christian’s First Birthday Party (Photos and Video)”

First Time at Pumpkin Patch

Dallas, Texas, Everything else, Photography

It’s october, which is pumpkins month: pumpkin lattes, carved pumpkins, pumpkin spice candles and of course…pumpkin patches… This year is my first year when I got to visit a pumpkin patch. This year is my first year to do a lot of things actually…thanks to Christian… 🙂 Remember, I was saying that because of him I’m discovering the world again?! So this is true in this case too… A lot of times I think he is too small for stuff and he won’t be interested in like maybe going to the zoo or children’s parks…and I thought that pumpkin patch won’t be interesting for him too.. But we decided to go anyways, just because pumpkin patch is not all year around thing, plus it’s free if he doesn’t like, it’s not a big deal.. Surprisingly, he liked it, he was touching all the pumpkins, he wanted to eat hay (he is putting everything in his mouth)…  Continue reading “First Time at Pumpkin Patch”
