If you know me you know that I LOVE picnics! What can be better than sitting outside, eating good food, having a conversation with great friends while your kids are running around? Today my amazing friend and awesome blogger Roselle from in_DFW blog (which is the best guide to family fun) and I decided to team up and create a list of TEN parks in DFW that are perfect for a picnic. So here they are:

top-10-picnic-parks-dfw

  1. Haggard Park

Located in the heart of Plano and is also a home of Interurban Railway museum. We especially like going there for movie nights in the park. They are free and family-friendly, you can’t beat it.

2. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

It’s probably number 1 park for playdates for those who live in Plano area. It has everything: a playground for kids, several pavilions, hike and bike trails, plus it’s pet-friendly.

3. Hope park

The best family park hands down. Huge playground for kids different age, spray park, stocked pond, a walking trail, BBQ grill, picnic tables – pretty much everything you need for a fun family time outdoors. If you’ve never been there, you have to check it out!

4. Bob Woodruff Park

This park is located near the lake, great place for those who love fishing. It also features sand volleyball court, hike and bike trails, therapeutic swing and a playground.

5. Mary Head Carter’s Park

It was updated in 2014. Play features include climbing areas of simulated rock, cables, ladders, interactive panels, slides, decks, swings, shade and a three-level tower.

July Currently

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

july-currently

July has been a lot of fun (pool parties, moms night out, going out with friends).  A big portion of the month we all have been under the weather though (Daniel and I had bad allergies, Christian had a stomach bug and ran a fever 104.2, David has just recently got sick and had a fever 103 yesterday). We are also preparing for David’s First Birthday Party, and while it’s a lot of fun, it’s also a bit stressful.

This month I was reminded of how fast time really flies (well, I’m reminded of it every month lol). I realized that I’m not looking forward to my birthdays anymore (which btw is next month!! Wait, what??), because I’m getting older, and I’m not looking forward to being a 50-year-old woman.. And I know it’s far away..but again, is it??  I’m like a little terrified of it lol…

Favorite: These Sunglasses! I love me some cat-eye frames, these particular sunglasses just scream SUMMER!! And they’re so cheap too <3

June Currently + Family Friday Linkup

June flew by so fast… It was May yesterday, and it’s already July… June was a hard month, a lot was going on and we were just so busy…it seems like the whole month was just on fast forward except for a couple of moments that were in slow motion…  That’s how I feel about June…

It seems like the whole month was just on fast forward except for a couple of moments that were in slow motion…  That’s how I feel about June and that’s probably the best I can describe it…

Reminded of what a great actor is Tom Hanks LOL 🙂 and L-I-F-E.. How important it is to live Your Life, to do what you want to do, to spend time with people you want to spend time with, to create moments with your loved ones, and not sweat a small stuff or even a big stuff..because at the end a lot of things that we so worry about won’t matter…the only things that will matter are the memories that we have and the moments we create, and I want them to be good…

On June 21, my girlfriend’s mom who had cancer (read her story here) passed away… I was at the hospital that night, and it was so heartbreaking. I know that no one is going to live on this Earth forever, and the death is unavoidable, but it’s still very hard to deal with it.But, like my husband said: “She (Fanny) is not in the past she is in our future, and we’ll definitely meet in heaven”.

If any of you want to support her family and help with the funeral expenses, please donate here.

Watched The League of Their Own, Captain Phillips… Both are based on a true story…

Captain-Phillips

… and we started to watch Son Of God (but we haven’t finished it yet). But so far I feel like they gave a general idea of the bible but there are a lot of {important} details that weren’t shown in the movie…

son-of-god

And yes, I can’t believe I haven’t watched Me before You just yet… 🙁 Have you watched it? I’m afraid to be disappointed, I loved the book so much…

Enjoying going to be at night… There are days when I enjoy waking up and looking forward to a new day, but this month I was just really enjoying going to bed, and get some kind of a quiet time without rushing anywhere, and even then I didn’t really enjoy my nights, because I had to wake up to put Christian on a potty or David was waking up because I broke him from taking a pacifier and he didn’t like that…

And we are enjoying swimming in the pool almost every day 🙂 <3

April + May Favorite Moments

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

favorite-moments

I’m always excited about this kind of posts because I can look back on the entire month and really appreciate everything we have and the time spent with family and friends.

I started this series of posts in March, but I skipped April because I was just so busy (still unpacking ugh)… that’s why today I’m combining April and May together in one post since we’ve had a lot of good moments in April and I want to share them with you.

Reminded of that we are responsible not only for our kids but we are responsible TO them for our choices, actions, and behavior. We should always be an example of what we want to teach them.

Reading a lot of health related articles. David was really sick past month for 2 weeks straight, he had a hand, foot & mouth disease, viral diarrhea (therefore really bad rash), allergies and ear infection. It was really tough on him. We were prescribed antibiotics and a lot of other medicines that I didn’t want to give him 🙁 so I started to read about natural approach to treating these kinds of medical conditions and I’m happy to report that it’s been successful 🙂

We’ve watched several movies this past couple of months, but first two movies that come to mind are Legend (based on true story) and The Nice Guys. Both are good!

Enjoying being a mommy. I enjoy daily cute conversations with Christian, I enjoy seeing how both of my kids develop and grow, I enjoy cooking for them (before it was a struggle because Christian was so picky and David wasn’t eating solids yet).

Wanting for David to sleep through the night… oh I want it so much LOL. I kinda used to get up at nights, and I pretty much forgot what it feels like to have uninterrupted nighttime sleep, but people say it’s good, so I want to experience it again LOL.

Listening to Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars, it’s Christian’s new favorite song 🙂

Highlights of this couple of months ↓ . Watch my April + May Favorite Moments 🙂 ↓

P.S. Finally caught up with my vlogs, so now they will be up in real time and not 2 months behind 🙂

Has anything exciting happened in your life recently? Please, share 🙂

Monday Vlog: Signed The Papers

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

On February 25, 2016, we finally signed all the papers on the house. AND THE HOUSE IS OFFICIALLY OURS!!!We couldn’t be more excited! We were looking for our perfect house for a while now, and this house has everything we wanted and is in the location we really wanted to live in! It does need to be updated and remodeled (we are doing it now, and we are moving in 1 week or so), which means we will love it even more 🙂

We also shopped for new appliances, and the best deals we found were at Nebraska Furniture Mart, they offer 18-30 months financing and they do price match.

Follow

I’m definitely going to do a before and after video of the house, and trust me you will want to see it!! So stay tuned for that video and subscribe either to this blog or to our family channel not to miss it!

12 Weeks Meal Plan | Week 9

Taco Sweet Potato and Spinach Egg Bake

taco-sweetpotato-egg-bake-recipe

(source)

  • 3 small (12 oz) sweet potatoes, coarsely grated
  • 6 large eggs or 3 large eggs + 1 cup egg whites (my choice)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper, ground
  • 1/2 tsp taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup any milk (I used unsweetened almond milk)
  • 1/2 cup any cheese, shredded (I used full fat white cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno, seeded & minced (for kid friendly I used 1/2 tbsp)
  • 2 handfuls of baby spinach
  • Cooking spray
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, line 8 x 8 square baking dish with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.*
  2. In a large mixing bowl add eggs, salt, pepper, taco seasoning and whisk for 30 seconds. Add milk, cheese, cilantro, garlic, jalapeno peppers and whisk to combine.
  3. Add sweet potatoes and spinach, mix, transfer to prepared baking dish and bake for 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before cutting. Serve hot, warm or cold.
Storage Instructions: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 – 4 months.

Notes

*You could also use a non-stick muffin tin, just make sure to spray it REALLY well with cooking spray or use BPA-free silicone baking cups. I also like to double the recipe, bake in 9″ x 13″ baking dish and freeze for later. Please note, baking time will increase by about 20 – 25 minutes, depending on your oven.

Avocado Boat

(source)

Cut an avocado in half, the long way. Remove the pit. Get creative and stuff with your favorite salad, cuisine, or an egg.

Here are couple of options:

Pico De Gallo: Chopped tomato, red onion, garlic granules, jalapeño, cilantro, Himalyan sea salt, and lime juice.

Turkey BLT: Off the bone turkey breast, nitrate-free bacon, chopped tomato, fresh spinach.

March Currently

Dallas, Texas, Everything else, Family, Lifestyle, Thoughts

march-currently

Hi everyone, and welcome to my new series of monthly posts “Currently”. At the end of every month, I’m going to share with you what I’m up to, exciting news, obsessions etc.

So this month I have been:

Reminded of how important it is to live right here right now..at the moment, and not when the weather gets better, a house is bigger, next month, or when you have more money. I’ve been reminded of that happiness is a state of mind and doesn’t depend on the circumstances (you might think it does, but it doesn’t).

Reading articles and posts on Facebook and Google. Just news, tips on parenting, articles that catch my eyes.  I would be glad to read an actual book, but I don’t really have much time for it these days. The last book I read was “Me Before You” and it was several months ago. It’s a really great book, and I can’t wait to see the movie which is coming out in June.

Watching. Usually, Daniel and I have date (movie) nights on Saturday and Sunday after we put kids to bed. And this month we watched all 3 parts of IpMan, Joy, War Room and Deadpool. Great movies! Deadpool is my least favorite from the list! It doesn’t have a deep meaning to it, but nevertheless, it was fun to watch, it’s definitely very different movie, and if you haven’t seen it you should..as you should watch all the movies that I mentioned above 🙂

Enjoying double date night with our friends. We had a dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant, and then went to Karaoke place, came home at 2:30 am. No kids, just adults, and it felt GREAT!!! (and I don’t even feel guilty for saying this lol). We had a really great time singing Karaoke, and I would share the video with you, but it’s just too private LOL.. I posted a short 15 sec video on Instagram though. By the way, are you as excited as I am about a new Instagram update? 1 min video instead of 15 sec!!!  Continue reading “March Currently”

Monday Vlog: Family Fun At The Zoo

Dallas, Texas, Family, Lifestyle

Our second try to go to the Zoo was a success!! It wasn’t super warm, but we couldn’t wait to get there and see the animals, ride a horse, feed the birds… And Christian loves going to the zoo so much, we didn’t want to tell him no 🙂

Besides going to the zoo, we had dinner with friends, playdates, David’s 6 months checkup, and don’t miss Christian’s singing (one of his favorite songs is “Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran) in this vlog!
